Just last month I visited Shanghai and Beijing after living in China 11 months.
I have traveled throughout CHina, saving these cities for last.
What a shock to me! Expats who live in these cities should realize that Shanghai is very different to the rest of China. It is like going only to NYC and then using this experience to say "I've been to AMerica." THe people, food, lifestyle, culture, etc is very different from the rest of CHina IMO.
I am glad I chose to see these great cities last, before I developed my opinions of CHina. I think I would have a different take on CHina if I first based my experience in Shanghai.
I guess I'm saying to expats here, go see more of CHina before you compare it to your own country. Shanghai and Beijing are not typical models of the CHinese way. Frankly, I loved visiting these great cities, but I wouldn't live there on a bet.
Ha Ha... I too am a coffee addict. (Im from Seattle!) I have my coffee shipped in from Seattle air express. I brought my commercial machine with me from Seattle, so I continue to enjoy my coffee.
The other thing I need here is my bbq grill. So I had to import a grill from Italy which is the same thing you can get in the US.... just a lot more money. I even bought more land outside the city so I have a nice place to have my bbq parties.
Everything else I can duplicate close enough in CHina for my taste. Well,,, I guess I still miss my hot tub, but I'm working on that now.
Well Australia was my home and is my country of origin...
I came to China for a 4 month holiday...
I've been here for 2.5 years and can't see myself leaving other than on holiday...
I caught terminal "Yellow Fever", (I love the girls here... )
No where in the world that I have been, can you live a life as celebrity and not deserve it...
The pay for foreigners here may not be much for our standards but they are quite good for Chinese standards...
16-25 hours a week of work leaves a lot of time for social interaction...
Most of the foreigners here are more tollerant than they would be at home...
The food and lifestyle leaves a bit to be desired but in general... It's great...
I've seen and lived all over Australia so there's nothing else for me there other than friends and family...
I love it when they visit me here...
