Singapore, perhaps surprisingly to some, has some of the best bars and nightlife scenes in Asia. Recently a new government law was passed that allows table and bar top dancing ala 'Coyote Ugly' and some bars and disco's are now permitted to stay open all night! Of course most people could not afford an all night session in Singapore as prices are still very high.
These changes are quite interesting and an attempt by Singapore to become more attractive to foreign investment and consequently attract foreign workers. While all the craze at the moment, the bars offering table and bar top dancing are really a novelty for the local Singaporeans males, and not something we could recommend with confidence, especially if you have just travelled through Bangkok or somewhere similar.
Below we take a look at some of the best bars in Singapore:
Brix - This is the site of the infamous old Brannigans, located beneath the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Scotts Road. A few years ago Brannigans was closed and one of the trendiest bars in Singapore re-opened it in its place. Decorated in a refreshing use of, yes you guessed it - bricks, this very popular bar gets very busy at weekends and late during the week. When the bar opened management said they were trying to keep away the 'professional ladies' that Brannigans was so famous, at first they succeeded but recent visits suggest that this policy has been relaxed or was simply too difficult to enforce. Prices are staggeringly high with a beer costing around Sin $ 17, wines by the bottle can be a cheaper option.
The Bus - Not a bar but a pub crawl! This unique idea offers people the chance to be driven around 4 different pre-determined bars, enjoying some tequila on the bus and stopping at the different bars to enjoy more! The bus generally departs at 19:45 and runs till late with tickets costing Sin $ 35. This is a fun way to see some of the different bars in Singapore, especially if it is your first visit to Singapore.
Coyote Ugly - One of the bars that offers bar top dancing, where the bar maids dance on the bar, offer the lime from their mouths after a tequila shot etc. To be honest we felt that there was not an awful lot to see but it was very busy especially with local Singaporeans enjoying their new found freedom.
Orchard Towers - This is not somewhere to take the wife or girlfriend, but is one tower block on Orchard Road that is full of 'girlie bars' with girls from Thailand, Philippines, China etc. The most famous bar/disco in Orchard Towers is called Top Ten and can be found on the last floor.

I've seen the movie Coyote ugly and I don't see the point in going to that kind of bar. Why not just go to a gogo bar where you can still get a free feel _________________ You've got another five seconds say something really outragious
