I am not a regular beer drinker. However in hot weather,
I do prefer icy cold beer of the lager or draught varieties.
The following extracts are from a feature story published
in the local rag here in Chengdu, Sichuan Province ...
Quote:
" ... According to Kirin Research Institute of Drinking and Lifestyle - Report Volume 29 – “Beer Consumption in Major Countries in 2004”, the volume consumed in China was 4.67 million kilolitres more than that in the United States, which firmly establishes this Asian country as the largest beer market in terms of both production and consumption ..."
"... Beer is usually served at room temperature, local drinkers like their brews sweeter, and with fewer hops. Hops usually add the characteristic bitter taste to beer ..."
Chinese beer? That's the second oxymoron I've found on this website.
Quibble, for God's sake - stop babbling. Chinese beer is indeed great beer! No oxymoron here!
Some of it is indeed great......except those brewed from rice.....
Tsingtao is semi - ok when there's no other choice than say Chinese Bud!
Snow Beer is a load of C**p, looks and tastes like witch p***.
Hapi is a good beer but leaves one rather hung over, still a 7 out of 10 though....
Sunsing (pronounced Sunshing) is an excellent beer, no hangover, comes in 2 flavours, 4.5% ABV (good for long drinking competitions) or a 10.4% ABV, somewhat more expensive but doesn't dissapoint, unlike some other strong beers that just taste like tar or treacle. (great for getting wasted when time is short) _________________

Yes, plenty of crap beers here in China, but thats the case everywhere!
I personally think TsingTao beer rocks! But then I'll drink just about any beer, so long as it's cold, and served either with a smile (and possibly more)from a dame, or a hearty cheers from a mate
