We wanted to see angkor wat and make a reasonably easy trip of it, booked in bangkok with an agency that a number of locals had independantly said was OK, and they (consequently found out -along with many others) use KhaoSan connections to provide the transport. We paid our 5500B for the travel and 3 nights, After the Bus forgot us completly, 3 hours late a tax iturn up and drove us (nearly to poipet then turned South) the the southern Thai/Camb boarder. Then 12 of us sat in the back of an open pickup truck (with 5 in the cab) for 10 hours on mainly unmade roads in October (post rainy season).
Would have been fine if we hadn 't paid for and expected a bus (air con on Thai side), and less plush on the Camb side. And they hadn't told us that the Taxi in Thailand and the pickup in Camb were both shuttles to the Main buses. A learning curve for some nieve tourists but if you're thinking of doing this route then have an anorak handy and some suncream !
Not to mention the usual scams with the hotels and lack of toilet stops.
