Hi all

I came across this conspiracy theory concerning bird flu just recently..

BF another conspiracy theory?
I have to say I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories in general, but this one seems very well documented and with a detailed biological insight on the issue. What do you think about it?

I agree, it does not sound unreasonable to me, though not convincing either.

Pictures like these in the media rather support Dr. Lanka's theory!

It's certainly an interesting theory, but thus far inconclusive.

I guess time will tell on this one.. occasion

** Quoted from the article **
“These mortally diseased birds keep flying for weeks on end. They fly thousands of kilometers, and then in Romania, in Turkey, Greece and elsewhere infect hens, geese or other poultry, with which they have had no contact, and which within a very short time get diseased and die. But the migratory birds do not get diseased and do not die, but keep on flying, for weeks on end, thousands of kilometers. “

He goes on to sustain that behind the current disease affecting chickens is the common bird pest, an illness observed since the late 19th century in poultry farms, characterized by blue coloring of the crest, a decrease in egg-laying performance, sagging of the feathers, which can sometimes cause the death of the animal. Then how are we to explain the alarming figure of death among poultry, which has so far exceeded 100 million? Again Lanka:

Does he mean chickens fly for thousands of kms? That one's news to me ... uhm

Or does he mean some other migratory birds fly long distances, and then infect the chickens?? Again, a bit puzzling ... uhm

Or am I just being slow here Question

What he means is that migratory birds, which are the natural host for the virus, do not develop further illness from the virus and so, on their migratory path, which can be thousands of kilometers long, they can easily infect other birds and therefore spread the virus. This is a known fact and not a groundbreaking theory.

So, he means that one species of birds is the natural host for the virus, and they then in turn infect the chickens??

Yep, just like some people carry HIV and don't contract Aids, but they infect others with HIV, who contract Aids.
