A Lao couple were beheaded at a chicken farm and four other people were shot and critically wounded in the South over the weekend.
The two headless bodies were found in Yaring district of Pattani on Saturday night. Their heads were found yesterday morning. They were identified as Amkha Duangmala, 26, and his wife Khongmanee.
Authorities blamed insurgents for the atrocity. There have now been four beheadings in 11 days in the South.
In Yala last night, two men attacked Praduan Sripachum, 67, a shopkeeper in Yaha district, and shot him in the head with a pistol. He was in critical condition. Niwat Chukaew, 45, a school director in the same district, was also shot in the head. Boonsong Payansaeng, 39, who was with Mr Niwat was also shot. Both were in critical condition.
In Pattani, militants on a motorcycle hurled a hand grenade at policemen playing takraw in Yarang district but it failed to explode. Tolae Da-o, a border patrol officer, was also shot at by militants on a motorbike in the same district but they missed and sped away.
In Narathiwat, armed men stormed a two-storey wooden house owned by a former police officer in Sungai Padi district on Saturday night. Pol Lt Atthapol Dulabut's nephew Paison Sorkor, 18, and four friends were watching football on TV when the gunmen rushed in about 11.30pm and opened fire with AK-47 rifles.
Mr Paison was seriously wounded. Police believed his uncle was the target.
A senior army officer said insurgents have changed their tactics. In the past they fled into the jungle after an attack. Now they hit chosen targets and then melt into the local population. Local residents were aware of their activities, but did not cooperate with authorities as the insurgents were their relatives.

Do you think these bastards care about the war being waged against unarmed civilians in Iraq, or are these merely opportunistic ANUS and the whole escalation of violence with events in the Middle East a coincidence? _________________ "Life is a sexually transmitted disease" ----
One things for sure...Thaksin's threshold for being patient and politically correct on the international scene won't last very long before he starts cutting off the heads of venomous snakes.
Does anyone remember the side line news a year ago THE DAY AFTER THE TSUNAMIHIT THE aNDAMAN SIDE OF THE SOUTH???? There were 5 bombs that went off!!!!!!! Solution??? Let them have their automony, cut the canal across the peninsula, heavily guard the "Thai" side of the canal, 00000.00 baht to be sent and spent on the automonous region, by all means - build a bridge - and charge (the 2 tier price theory comes into play here...) them an arm and a leg to get over!!! Drastic ?- don't think so - realistic ?- I wish! Feasible - yes!!!
Make your dislikes know through not only this forum but some of those anti-west, anti-non-muslim,etc. sites. Cut them off by all means, isolate them, and maybe - just maybe - they'll purge themselves. We've got enough to worry about with the emminent slow (ish), man-made destruction of the world much less some radical ragheads trying to force their religion down our throats!!! _________________ Hey! from the mountains

Looks like the continued beheadings and drive-by-shootings don't get much attention anymore. So they planted more than 50 bombs in bars, karaokes and wherever tourist go at Chinese New Year in the Thai south. The death toll is at nine and about 40 injured.
But even that doesn't get them the attention. Bad luck! The whole world rather talks about a train blast in India now. Bad timing! _________________ Thailand Forum - Korat Forum..
any explanation for that?
i mean why the indian incident gets so much more coverage?
Less expected and higher body count I guess. And of course that most of the victims - not the terrorists - were muslims. _________________ Thailand Forum - Korat Forum..
