Before it all gets underway.........
Any tips or views on who will win "The Ashes"?
ps. For the uninitiated (or otherwise inclined): "The Ashes" is a 128 year-old series of cricket matches between Australia and England |

I used to watch a lot cricket when they showed in on Star Sports. Seems like they stopped the cricket coverage so won't get a chance to see any. _________________ Asia Expats Forum

I've been in Bangkok while some of the big matches have been on. It's hard to find somewhere to watch it. I've been to Wall Street in Soi 33 twice to watch games. I had seen an ad about it in the Bangkok Post and never bothered to find out about other places.
Anyone know of another spot?

Noone is replying to the poll
I can only conclude that the Brits cannot bring themselves to face up to reality and select Australia...... and that not many Aussies have seen this poll |

You are assuming that all brits and Aussies are interested in the Ashes? _________________ Asia Expats Forum

There wouldn't be many who are not. Probably around the same percentage as Americans who are not interested in the Superbowl.
Again, Brits will deny interest because they have endured so many years of defeat |

What about those lions down in Zealand? Some say they didn't take the best players down there. _________________ Asia Expats Forum

No, it wasn't their best team. But that's mainly because of politics. Being a 'Lions' team, they have to dilute the overall talent in the squad by picking players from all over the Home Countries.
They're a decent side, just having a bad run |

I think many of the games will be close and the results of some games will really come down to who wins the toss and if they make the right decision...
However I am predicting that at the end the score board will read some thing like Aust 4-1 or 3-1 and a draw or somewhere around that figure... |

What a great first day's play!! I was was worried there for a while.
McGrath stuck it to his critics and stole the show...
It'll be interesting to see how it unfolds tomorrow

Gawd this game has more turns than a bloody maze...
I'm wondering if 350 will be enough to keep the poms out of touch in the second innings - I would feel better if the blokes left them around 450+ to chase... |

Ahhh, you're dead right Gringo. Plenty of drama and tension as Richie would say.
314 up, 350 by the end of the innings and 400 would be nice. I think the Aussies will still win as expected, it's just a matter of the margin.
I gave an English bloke I work with 99.5 runs start so I'd like to see this tail wag.

| I think we're safe from the rain. How many sessions will it take the Aussies to bowl them out? |

About an hour...
And the fat lady sang long and loud after the last wicket fell...
One trouble for us though - the next test is at Edgbaston and it's not a very happy hunting ground for Aussie cricket teams - still a second win would really put the English in a spin... |
