For those that travel to Vietnam they may have enjoyed the Dragon Fruit and for those that haven't I feel sorry for you...
The Dragon Fruit is the fruit of a cactus it has milky white flesh flecked with tiny black seeds...
This fruit is probably best eaten chilled but when in Nha Trang I just love sitting on the beach and having a couple of Dragons for lunch...
There are diferent varieties of course but the 2 pics(if they turn out) will give you an idea of the fruit...
Believe it or not for as long as I have been in Thailand I have never tasted one of these.....
but one is in the fridge now cooling and should I survive I will be able to give you my humble opinion shortly..... but first I am doing a taste test on a half dozen Chang Drafts, in different size glasses to see if this has a direct bearing on the price of eggs in China.
Ewww... I absolutely hate durian. When I was younger.... I'd have to get out of the house for a while when my family eats durian. I just can't stand the smell of durian.
Have you tried "Smelly Tofu" ?
They sticks but melts in your mouth _________________ =============

2nd one free
Well the results are in ...... my stomach is out ......
Gringo in your posting the photo on the right shows what appears to be a white inside with the little seeds..... Mine was green inside with little black seeds..... looked very much like a kiwi fruit... but the taste was basically nothing..... I was wondering if mine was green and yours is white,,,,,, was mine not ripe yet....
In the Chiang Mai Farmers Market the price is 60 baht per Kilo

It could have just been a different variety - there are so many different varieties with differing colours- it's possible that it was not quite ripe...
An interesting one is red flesh with the little black seeds...
They are really at their best when just ripe, especially if they are allowed to ripen on the cactus but if left too long they do tend to go a little soft inside...
Most have very subtle flavours and the one they have in Vietnam when served chilled is very refreshing on a hot day...
