The Australian government has announced plans for a large-scale recruitment drive for 20,000 skilled immigrants.
BBC News website reader Lee Wardle is turning his world upside down and leaving Cheshire, UK, for Sydney, Australia.
In the first of a series of diaries, he tells us his reasons for leaving and what he hopes the future holds.
Around six or seven weeks ago my wife Lorraine and I had practically bought a house in North Wales but the whole thing collapsed dramatically. We just couldn't get our head round why the whole thing ended up so badly.
A week or so later I noticed a job in Sydney, Australia, and applied for it without really thinking too much about it.
If it doesn't work out, at least we can say we tried
I got a call from Sydney to say that IBM wanted to interview me on the phone later that week.
The interview finished at 0700 and I headed into my office to find an email from the agency in Sydney saying IBM wanted me - talk about fast moving!
I called my wife and told her about the offer and she said "go for it" - so we were going to Wales after all - New South Wales!
I think it's incredible that we're actually doing this move. My wife and I have said that if it doesn't work out, at least we can say we tried. I don't want to look back at my life and regret not doing something - no one that we've spoken to has said a bad word about what we're doing.
Australia and Thailand just announced a working visa agreement too. University graduates from Thailand can work for up to a year in Australia and vice versa.

That's interesting. Can you give any more information about the visa for Australian graduates working in Thailand for one year? _________________ EXPAT IN CHINA
The plan was announced last year but it seems to have come into effect very recently. At this stage, the scheme is only open to Australian and Thai graduates under 30 at the time of embarkation.
I guess I miss out then. Not having an Australian passport wouldn't do my cause any good either.
