Oh yes, one more thing. "He" is a "she". Kaori is a girl's name. Which makes the stupid sweeping first statement a whole lot more likely.

Elsewhere in the world, mixed marriages are no big deal.
Doesn't this article lose all credibility after you read the first line?
Good point Hewer. How can he make such a general and sweeping statement?
I think the author meant Western nations when he said "elsewhere" ... and I also think he meant to say "when compared to Japan, at least" at the end of the sentence.
To me, mixed marriages seem to be more common in the West (and thus more "accepted") than in the Far East ...
Of course, this is just what I feel ...
As for me, I don't mind dating women of other races one bit - in fact I prefer it. Variety is the spice of life, as Wocca noted.
Well, the author should have begun the article with "In the west..." or "In western nations..."
Trust me on this Rahul, the author more than likely meant "all other countries".
Typical Japanese bulls**t where they assume the rest of the world is too naive to understand Japanese ways.
Hewer, first off congrats on becoming a centurion .
Yep, the author should have begun the article as you said ... and since you're living in Japan - I'll go with your gut feeling on this one
As far as the "rest of the world is too naive to understand their ways" bit goes, it's very true - but then one could say that about many other countries too ... including countries like India or China ... Such is life as an expat in a foreign country . _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community!

Right - I didnt notice that ... ... so you mean the Japanese women (in general) generalize a lot more when it comes to interracial or intercultural marriage (or dating) issues _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community!

Nope, not exactly. Let me quote Mrs. Hewer, IQ 160, a Trinidadian of Indian descent:
"Most Japanese women are taught from a young age to be Japanese and to spurn critical thought. The rest are just plain dumb"
My wife is a gentle, intelligent, patient woman. I thought quoting her might rule out chauvanism on my part. _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen
To be honest, the post was too long for me to go through it...
Therefore, I might be off the orginal post... though I think, women's first thoughts about marrying a foreigner... (whether they are in a relationship or not...)
...just passing thoughts, are that they think that their offsprings might look much cuter and more beautiful _________________ excuse me if I make no sense...

ROTFLMAO!!
Hewer, NEVER ask a foreign (non-fareast-Asian *I didnt want to say the O word*) woman what they think of women in the Far East!
Most American and Indian women say EXACTLY the same thing about Chinese women and consider them ditzy and not too cute (but I beg to differ ).

My personal favorite would be China as far as pretty girls go, but then we all have our own preferences .

Too true Rahul, too true.
I'll get in trouble if I start stating favourites
If you convert to the new BPR religion and your missus starts firing missiles at you for stating such, then according to Commandment #11, you could always run for the nearest dame's house and take shelter there _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community!
