I haven't posted on this forum for quite a while, as I have been fighting a touch of cancer. However, I wish to warn my fellow Far East expats of a person who seems to have taken advantage of my sickness.
Just in case some of you are considering the use of a financial adviser, one name I recommend you skip is a British guy named Jonathan Perry. This former resident of Japan who later moved (doubtless with good cause) to the 'financial hub' that is the Philippines has disappeared from the face of the Earth, but only after reneging on some financial agreements that have left some of his clients (including me) much the worse for wear. I unwisely invested in his company, Satara International, and when the time came for him to repay my investment — surprise, surprise, he disappeared! I can't believe I'm the only wronged client of his, as he could hardly live a life of luxury on what he owes me, even in the Philippines, but it still riles me when someone acts so ignobly for such a relatively meagre sum. Anyway, the point remains that I hope others may learn from my errors. If you are considering using an adviser named Jonathan Perry, or are approached by him, take warning and move on to the next name in the list. Sadly, Asia is full of dishonourable 'financial advisers', who prey on folk who have more money than experience and make maximum use of the region's lax laws. However, you have been warned. _________________ >Life in Hua Hin, Warts & All<
