That is why I asumed the Saudis would be targetting arabs as they would have access to all teh historical sites in Mecca and Medina. There are however same very well kept ancient ruins out in the desert somewhere as well as some old cave dwellings etc... The bedouins could put on a very nice dancing sword show. Then there is camel and hores racing. Some nice old palaces around-an many new palaces. and of course the old souks are filled with cool stuff
The food? They have all the traditional arabic food and there are some traditional Saudi dishes that I like -kupsa being a favorite.

Non-muslim are not allowed to visit their holy places like Mecca, whete their Kabba is located(the place Mohammad their prophet), or else you have to be converted to Islam to visit that sites.
I was once travelled from Khobar to Jeddah, when we reach the boundary of Medina, there was a check point and eveybody hav to show their Identification because maybe somebody will go to mecca which are non- muslim. _________________ RoWbert:)
For the food, I'm cant memorize their menus, but it is common here the "Kabsa", its chicken grill with lots of arab spices with grinded tomatoes and onions+pepper, included also their fried rice with lots of spices like olive fruits and other spices.
What can I say but yum, yum one more time!!

SAudi women is compulsory to wear their veil, unlike with other arab women is its up to them. but when you are outside you can hardly see arab beauties who are not wearing veil exept with asian and indian expats.
So your saying, if the woman is from Oman or UAE for example, then she doesn't need to wear a veil?? How does the religious police know who is from where - I guess everyone has to carry ID on them?
"you can hardly see arab beauties who are not wearing veil exept with asian and indian expats." - You mean, you can see Arab beauties not wearing veils with Asians, Indians and other expats - or women from other countries?
BTW, if non Saudi women aren't required to wear a veil, then do they have to follow the other customs also that Saudi women need to follow? J/curious.
When I was there Saudi women could show their faces and I doubt that has changed-although most of them did not show their faces. There are so many variations of what is shown or not shown-some cover their whole faces, some cover everything except their eyes and other cover all except their faces- and it gets better from there. _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Web Directory Expat Friends Dating
