Of course Indians are Asians. Actually, in the UK if you mention Asians most people will think that you are referring to Indians or Pakistanis. Other Asian people are referred by their nationalities, Chinese, Japanese, Thai... or Oriental for people from the far east.
Isn't asia a geographical thing? If youre from a country in asia then you are asia--dosn't matter if can add 50+70 without using a calculator. _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
Did anyone notice the "huge penises"
category on the Comparison Chart ?
i saw that but canot comment either wayas I have never seen any indian dick's and hope i never do. I do remember one thai girl saying that the "kack's" have big dicks. "kack" is thai word descrbing indians--might include arabs as well. _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
Depends on what you mean... Asian in a geographical sense... yes, in fact the arab world and the east asian world have many similarities and many arguments on who invented what because they had the same thing for centuries. However if you mean like Black(African/Negro), White(Caucasian) and Asian(Mongoloid), then no, East Indians are not considered to be Asian rather they would be placed along with the White Category. Many people find this hard to accept because of their racist side (WHICH WE ALL HAVE) that tells them that they aren't, you can see the similarities in their physical appearances.
I seriously question whether or not if you own a liquor store makes you asian could actually be used to validate whether a race/person actually be from whatever race. The site was probably made by some Indian supremist kid from the suburbs somewhere in North America who thinks Asians are the most supreme race in the world because our stereotype has been so good lately so he wanted to make people think Indians should be aligned alongside Asians instead but feeling insecure about his own penis he would go ahead and say or basically state "Hey indian guys are Asian meaning we are wicked and on top of that we have big penises". That or theres some kid who thinks he can be a smart/funny with topics that usually attract a huge amount of trolls.
I'm constantly holding back on a lot of racist things to say, so I expect the same out of someone who replies out of my messages.
the arabs love telling us that we use their numbers--while they use Indian numbers.
To me "asians " would be people from the countries where the predominant race are "asians" How to describe them?? Mongoloid?? _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
I don't know how I should take your reply because I kind of notice some signs of disagreement and sarcasm. But basically people will say East Asians, South East Asian, South Asians whatever... If Indians are Asians then why not the Russians living in northern asia? Oh right they don't own liquor stores so they MUST not be Asian.
"the arabs love telling us that we use their numbers--while they use Indian numbers. "
Arabs are actually using chinese numbers, for a long time we believed that the Arabs created the number system however arguments started to appear when they found out that the Arab person who wrote about numbers and some mathematics was actually in China while he was writing that book. I just checked on google and so far from what I can see is that it seems like the Chinese won on this. So now if a arab is telling you that your using their numbers you can tell them that they're wrong.

Hi Wei Li and welcome..
I have to disagree with your summation concerning the Russians.
It has nothing to do with "liquor stores" or any other derogatory term you may choose.
Yes, geographically speaking, half the country is in Asia and half the country is in Europe, so some are European and some are Asian.
So why are Russians perceived to be European?
This is due to the fact that most of the Russian population do live in Europe, Moscow, the Capital city is in Europe, their Government is in Europe, the largest, most populous cities are indeed in Europe.
But ask a Russian whether they're Asian or European, most don't care, they're just Russian and proud of it! and rightly so. _________________
Before I went to sleep yesterday I saw a interview with the Sri Lankan president and also a candidate for the new UN cheif and he actually said "Asian countries such as ...., ...and Russia". The reason why I brought in Russians into my posts is because as you said Russians are typically considered European but I'm using the half thats in Asia to make my argument clearer. The liquor store owning bit comes from the website that is highlighted in this thread and you can go ahead and read about the ridiculious claims or joke claims. When people say "Asian" in North America we mean East Asia and South East Asia because we talk about ethnicity which started by the change of category names behind the "three-race" theory/racial profiling which today uses africans, caucasians and asians however when this theory/racial profiling was introduced the categories were negros, caucasians and mongoloid. Mongoloids are basically East Asian and South East Asians who as you can tell have similar appearances(no I did no mean that as they all look a like).
Also a funny thing about North America and when the three-race category is used many indians(until 2002 in which i noticed more indians started to align get a decent grasp of geography or just re-aligning themselves to asians instead of euros or africans) didn't even know that their country was located in Asia(And I mean many located in the British Columbia area in which I have grown up in... however I have heard that this is a common problem around North America by others). Just like most countries and people from one of those groups they will try to take as much credit on good things as possible then when that race or whatever does something stupid they are whatever that race within the race they are. The east indians I knew would most often align themselves with people of the african race because at the time and still, african-americans have become what many subconsciously consider as the "cool race". But I don't want to get too far into it because I'm just want to point out why there is a confusion on whether Indians are considered Asians or not and what one fo possibly many reasons that would have sparked the confusioin. So to sum it up, continents tend to have more then one race in the continent so not everyone can be just called whatever for their geographical location. Discussion ended.
Of course Indians are Asian. The Indian subcontinent is part of Asia, so Indians are Asian. Plain and simple .
Most westerners are thinking of the Far East (or the Orient) when they think of "Asian" ...
Indians sometimes tend to be mistaken as Spanish, or Puerto Rican, or Brazilian or even Arab, at least some north Indians do, but this is more to do with people getting confused over the similar skin texture of all aforementioned groups ...
Indians also have many of the same Asian "character traits" and there are also similarities in culture. For examples, Indians, Chinese, and most Asians will try and get the best price for any goods they buy ... There are also similarities between how Asians speak English (those who have not learnt English in the US/UK/elsewhere). Chinese prefer to use US style English, but interestingly enough refer to soccer as "football" (as most Asians will) and tend to understand an Indian English accent a bit better than US English accent.

Japanese prefer American English but call football "soccer". They also have no clue how to understand Indian accents. What a varied continent we all live on (I'm including India in this)

True. My wife is of Indian descent (from Trinidad) and gets everything from Egypt to Thailand when people guess her nationality. It gives her the s**ts actually because most people from non-cricket playing nations have no idea where Trinidad is.

Nicely summed up. The final say rests with the ICC to my mind. When Asia played the Africa in the continental challenge, I believe the captain was Inzamam Ul-Haq from Pakistan. Discussion ended. _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen

Well, regarding the Japanese referring to football as soccer, guess they're used to American terms ... the US has been quite a presence in Japan since WWII, as we all know .
Agree regarding the "guessing nationality" part, though I've never been referred to as Thai (or from the Far East)! Other than that though, I've been called Spanish, Mexican, Arabic, Puerto Rican, South American, Brazilian, literally EVERYTHING except INDIAN! (and Oriental).
By the way, Inzi didnt batter the English this time, but Youhana sure did! (if your following the Test match going on currently between Pakistan and England). Inzi still might batter them in the last innings, tho ...

And WHO will win the ASHES I say the Aussies!!!
Now Mohammed Yusuf... He is averaging 90 since he converted to Islam. Amazing eh? Shades of Cassius Clay/ Muhammed Ali??
Pakistan were set 380 to win off 71 overs. Not an impossible task, but Salman Butt was out first ball. Now Inzi is out there as I type playing for a draw.
No worries though England (as you say) will get their come uppance at the end of the year. _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen
