Due to T1's recommendation of not using Nokair and Air Asia due to their treatment of the disabled I suggest to collect in this forum also other companies and institutions that deserve to be recommended for that reason as well. _________________ Thailand Forum - Korat Forum..

Ill bet that most of thai tourist attractionms are not disabled friendly--you know ramps for wheelchairs and stuff like that _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
Make that the whole of Asia, really - with the exception of Singapore and Japan.
I'd put it down to the disabled not being encouraged to go out, especially with the family - all a matter of face.
It struck home when this subject came up a while ago while I was in Europe on vacation - you see far less elderly and disabled people in public here than Europe or Oz/NZ. _________________ _____________________________________

I don't think the number of disabled foreign tourists is high enough for the thai government to see a necessity in supplying the tourist attractions with disabled-tourist-friendly facilities.
There are approximately 160 million disabled people around the world, while Thailand has 1.1 million disabled people. Only 120 out of 697 gas stations and 28 out of 99 shopping malls in the country have standard facilities for the disabled.
But there is also a downside to creating ramps for wheelchairs: motorcycles. Usually only a step of at least 30 cm can keep bikers in Thailand from using the sidewalk - if there is one - instead of the street . . . Won't facilitations for disabled rather contribute to public endangerments - and lead to more disabled? _________________ Thailand Forum - Korat Forum..
