Hi All,
We're planning a family trip to Thailand and we would like your expert recommendations on kids friendly hotels/resorts. We don't really need babysitting services but a kid's pool would be nice. Also we're trying to find somewhere that has enough to keep the children occupied but not too boring for the adults. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Cat
p.s. As we'll be travelling from China I guess we can only fly to Bangkok then transit? or are there nice resorts near Bangkok?
what are the kids ages? what resort towns are you planning to stay at?
and most important--what is budget per night?--there are some nice resorts in phuket and elsewhere that have 2 bedroom bungalows etc.. very nice for families and not that expensive _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
The kids are aged 2 and 8, my husband wants somewhere not too far from Bangkok as he wants to have the option of doing his "culture tours", I'd like that too of course but my priority is to keep the children entertained. So either somewhere near Bangkok or Phuket (I heard there's a waterworld?). I'm not familiar with the hotel standards in Thailand, at moment our budget is around US$80/night but we can expand that a little, would that get us a reasonable accommodation for family of four? The bungalows sound rather attractive, assume they'll be more expensive?

t he bungalows in phuket are around 5000 per night--i will try to find out the name of the resort.
As far as keeping the kids entertained theres plenty of stuff around pattaya--about 90 minutes drive from bangkok. they have waterworld, ripleys,etc... and all that stuf there.
I know of some places in pattaya where you can get like 2 rooms with a sharing middle section which is with in your budget. Garden Lodge in naklua is ok. they just did some renovations. LakeWood or Pinewood is another good one. Both are in big compounds with big pools etc... _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
Hi. When my children were younger (now 13 and 11) we had 2 favourite resorts detail as follows:
Nova Coralia Rim Pae, near Rayong (about 3 hours by road from Bangkok) and
Thavorn Palm Beach Resort, at Karon Beach in Phuket.
Both were located in pleasant settings with Palm Beach having 3 swimming pools. At Nova we used to get a suite for 60 USD per day and in Palm Beach we used to get sdjoining rooms (with door between) for a liitle higher. Both catered well for children and the Nova had children activities organised in the afternoons. Nova Hotel will also arrange collection on arrival at Bangkok airport if so needed.
I note that you also want to do the usual touristy visits around (in) Bangkok if that is the case I would suggest you split your visit and stay a few days in Bangkok then go to the resort for the balance of your stay.
I would also suggest that you do your reservations by internet to get a better deal.
Other than that have a happy Christmas / New Year and enjoy your holiday in Thailand later.
Best regards
heres some info from my friend who just vacatoned there a couple weeks ago
"It was Cape Panwa. The website is http://www.capepanwa.com/main.asp . If I remember correctly, there was a special deal and we got two nights and three days for about 6000 a day for a villa. The website has prices but I would call because it was not listed on the website. I actually found the advert in the Bangkok Post. The villa is two rooms. One room has two twins and the other has a King. In the middle is a sitting area with a TV, small kitchen, of course couch, etc. The room with two twins had its own TV. Meals were good and at the small village near by is the Phuket Aquarium, worth the visit. The hotel meet us at the airport and provided transport. We got a bunch of other free stuff, like spa, massage, free use of all non-motorize water stuff. I remember the entire trip including plane tickets was $1000. I don't have any of the paperwork any more. " _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
Have you found your spot yet ? If not what time of year are you planning on going ?
Unfortunately our trip had to be postponed, but we're thinking maybe this summer or next winter... has to tie in with school holidays. Having checked out the recommendations we're upping our budget so I'm really looking forward to have some quality time on the beach. ... would summer be too hot?

april and may are the hottest months---the rest of the summer is hot but with frequent thunderstorms to cool things down _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating

Cheers Mike. I guess if I can hack Beijing's summer at average 38 degrees I can manage Thailand too. Now the dilemma is: to go to Thailand or back to England for our summar holiday...I know my preferences
