What's the difference in taste between a lychee and a longan?
I have the feeling I may have been eating both for years thinking that they were all lychees. |

Well, that's it then. I've had them both and they're both delicious. I don't know which one's better. I'll have to do a head to head taste test sometime but no one knows what the hell they are in Korea.
Do they share the same growing season?
BTW, I was born in Saskatchewan. Never saw any rambutans there. Lots of other hairy things though. |

Longan is about two/three months earlier than Lychee, you can get Longan from late February to early May, and then Lychee come in just when Longan is going out.
Tast wise, there is a subtle difference, Longan tend to be a tad richer/deeper (not sure if deeper is the right word to describe a taste), whilst lychee tend to be more juicy and fresh. Yum, I like both
Oh, P.S., if you're into Yin and Yang, Longan is Yin and Lychee is Yang. i.e. you might get a little spotty if you eat tooooo much lychee. |

Well I wouldn't confuse rambutans with lychees or longans. They're definitely inferior tasting.
Don't know this oxtail of which you speak. |
