Anyone able to tell me if the Marco Polo hotel in Jakarta is still going???
I think the address was on Jalan Cik Ditro(or something like that)...
Can't seem to find it on Google and am wondering if it has changed hands and name or been knocked over for other development...

Not too sure if it was Mike - it was only 3 star and certainly not one of the big flash places...
Actually it was a nice hotel with good clean rooms, a real nice restaurant with good food, very helpful staff etc...
May have to travel through Jakarta later this year with a 2 night stop over so was hoping to get a room there, if it's still there that is...just can't find my receipts from the previous stays so no contact details...

MARCOPOLO HOTEL JAKARTA
A mess on top of tricky mouth
Almost 2 months now since our first visit to Jakarta, I can not keep this on to myself and my boy friend of how nasty it was the management of Marcopolo hotel Jakarta to us. This was indeed I say my foolishness to the public that I got such incomparable misery for hopeful joy I expected to have holiday in Jakarta, just because my father’s story when he was working for 5 years in a German Company at the cit, and also my unforgiveness of being in trust with some of my friends in Holland to choose such a [FOUR LETTER WORD] hotel.
When we planned to choose Marcopolo it was actually not a good sign from the beginning, that I could not reveal, because the contact address I got from a brochure in Holland was not correct, and a guide book pleased me with email address. I sent 3 times emails but no answer come in until I called and a lady was picking up telling no message was received, as it was the manager has the access to email. In Feb 2008 our rate was confirmed at EU 25.15/r/n. Nearer to our departure , I just to make everything in order called again and alas!!! My booking was released on the reason that they could not contact me of the new increased rate starting April which was become equiv with EU 32./r/n. We were ok, and reconfirmed the rate. Arriving in Jakarta a bit early and direct to the hotel at 10 am took a taxi at airport and arrived at 11.15 am, begged o management to be allowed to check in but no compromise, and forced to stay at the lobby in our exhausted condition. I know some one spoke that the rooms were still available. At 12.15 the receptionist called me and presented me the registration form with no polite expression, but for me no matter. We were staying for 4 nights. At the first morning I took breakfast at the restaurant and finishing the meal now surprised we got separate bill of equivalent with EU 10.37 ( much more expensive then in France ), that we thought it was already included in our room rates, as our first discussion. So with this accident we started to count our pocket, and still could cover my holiday yet have to cancel our plan to visit Pulau Seribu.
One afternoon I tried to speak with a person seemed as supervisor or manager?, as I did no feel comfortable on their inhospitable attitude for 2 nights we have been their guests, my question was why they do not work with tour operator to make the communication and contact be much easier. I was surprised to hear, that the hotel do not need agent, and why the should share the profit with somebody or some one that actually do not invest of the hotel? Hearing the answer I was really worry, if the hotel or management think that we need Marcopolo and not Marcopolo need customers.
Third night almost unable to sleep to find such strange thing at this hotel which was said excellent hotel by my friends in Holland. I decided with boy friend to walk out and asking here and there of a tour operator office, and managed to organize to visit places in Jakarta to kill our bad mode at the hotel and thank to Adia the tour guide and Nuaryo the driver for their handful help and hospitality, far from what I got in the hotel.
The last day, our flight was late, I asked again for late check out that they never confirmed, but no compromise again, so we walked out again to just killing time around the places at Cik Ditiro street while enjoy some local cuisines. We back at the hotel around 12.15, a bit late from the regulation of hotel check-out time. Upon arriving at the side of the front office I was called by some one from the office asking the key, and telling us that our belonging had already been moved to the lobby while showing the batch. Not good feeling I hastily see and checked : 2 suitcase, 1 hanbag, handicam… where?, plastic bag with just bought silver accessories, albums, and more where……?, and oooh, my kinetic Seiko I bought at ITC Mangga Dua…… where? I run to receptionist and asking who was responsible for moving our belonging from the room to the lobby. Some one pointed to a man standing on near a table and I hastily approached him asking again who is responsible for moving my belonging from the room, and he told, that his staff friend of morning shift. Now you have to explain to me where are my this… this… this? I asked seriously. With no expression of urgent he back to ask me “ Do you bring such thing?” Oh my god what happened here. I asked “who is your manager?”
He seems reluctant to mention a name and I shouted at the lobby causing one from the office came out and approached me. “ Are you the manager “ I asked, “ no “ He answered. “ Then please call your manager I need him now here” I shouted again. He left and disappeared at the back of the wall behind the reception. 15 minutes has gone without communication and I headed to reception again and telling I did not see this… this… this…, my belongings and ask to be allowed to check to the room. They said please wait and wait, I really wanted to cry after almost 25 minutes came out a man with fancy dress he probably the manager and ease my feeling and one of the reception pointed to follow him. It is strange this man did not even say something to me and walked indifferently up stair and I followed with heart bit more and more tensioning. He opened the door where I was staying and seemed to searching something without asking me that were behind him and joint the search. I started to say first word “ do you know what we missed” “ no” he answered curtly. “ But what you are looking for if you do not know” I start again my creeping angriness. “ If you left something it should be still here” he said. My boy friend then cut the discussion by asking if you could call back to the staff that moved the belongings if probably help”. Yet he said that was no phone to contact, and it will take long time since the traffic was worse. Then my boy friend asked him to report it to the police. He answered that he did not want police to involve in this case. “ Then you have to responsible “ shouting my boy friend. “ You know we have to depart to airport within 4 hours, and now you do no serious to solve this problem, I will report to my embassy!!! Said my boy friend. It seemed that this man tried to redirect the situation with the possibility that we were lying on the lost belonging, that made me really mad and run down asking the reception of the police phone number and to our peak of desperation there is no police number they have………. You could imagine how I was disappointed at the moment. I remembered that when I made trip with Adia still have receipt of our shopping with his mobile number, then I asked the reception to be connected to Adia. What they told me? It was even more frustrating answer that I must pay to use the phone. I when out the office and found some one at the right of the street bringing mobile phone and with our frustation tried to beg for her and thanks god she was really helpful and her name I put on my bran cash for our life note. At last just 5 minutes from the time I have to go to airport Adia came and I explained everything to him, and he welcome and help me. I went to airport with him and finishing our problem in long distance, to get our insurance report.
Thanks Adia, I wish you come to Paris and I will show you how people in Paris is much better then people at Marcopolo hotel.
I am resident of Paris, my father is half Indian and half British.
