SCOPE OF POSITION
Formulates and implements manufacturing policies and programs to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the organization. Directs and coordinates production activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and meet quality standards and cost objectives. Directs the implementation of new technology, processes and systems with regard to manufacturing and speed to market of new designs and new products encompassing all existing EM, CFL, EL, HID, SIGN and future product lines
SPECIFIC DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plans, directs, controls, coordinates and leads all manufacturing activities for the Universal Lighting China operations.
Leads the Universal Lighting China organization and operations in utilizing and incorporating proven advanced manufacturing and process improvement techniques and tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, etc to reduce costs, improve quality, enhance service, optimize manufacturing capability, and minimize working capital requirements
Directs the establishment of methods, process and systems to audit and standardize manufacturing methods for all facilities and focus factories to optimize operations.
In partnership with senior management of ULT directs the development and implementation of process improvements for all processes including logistics and distribution centers, R&D work flow and administrative processes.
Provides direction for the development of the NPI process for Operations globally, and implement methods and processes for NPI procedure adherence.
Set direction relative to labor, manufacturing, material flow and quality.
Sets direction and guides the continuous training and development of people in Operations, HR, Quality, Finance and Materials.
Builds a work culture that ensures compliance and adherence to corporate guidelines regarding employee safety and health, and environmental regulations
Develops direct reports in creating an organizational culture that is cooperative, competent, flexible and open to change.
Directs, develops, and implements cost conscience systems and processes and ensures adherence to budgets, capital expenditures and minimizes cost liabilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Advance Degree with 7-10 years manufacturing experience
A demonstrated track record of applying modern manufacturing techniques to drive process improvement: i.e. Lean tools, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Statistical Process Control, Six Sigma, or similar technique.
Direct experience in managing and directing in a high volume, component manufacturing environment as part of a multi-plant, involving global logistic functions and high labor content processes.
Proven experience in leading and directing quality systems and processes improvements
A background working with and supporting a team in a fast paced, results oriented environment
Solid work experiences in Asia Pacific region with a strong understanding of the Chinese market and culture
