I woulda paid 2250 ... it probably won't hurt the company that much (as I posted on Dongguan Expat).
And, I think you probably did the same thing. _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community! |

I had a similar thing to that happen to me eight or nine years ago in Australia. I didn't notice a thing when I signed the slip but they called me up at home later in the day. Guess they looked up all the Hewers till they found me.
I was charged $4.95 instead of $495.00. The assistant who took the charge called me herself and asked if I would come back and pay the rest.
I reckon you did the honest thing Mike because you're a computer guy and it was probably your favourite shop.
Now, what do you think I did? _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen |

I'm a computer guy too, but perhaps also a bad guy (when it comes to this sort of thing).
Why is this thread in "Culture Rap", tho _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community! |

I am sure you went back and paid the rest.
What did I do? Well first of all I did not realize what had happened--I thought at first that I was signing a charge for something else I had ordered extra--but after a few minutes I then I realized that this was not the case. _________________ Asia Expats Forum

No way could I not pay the extra if I had noticed. Since working in a shop dealing with a lot of money all day every day and the few times I made mistakes almost always the customer pointed it out! I was at the time so grateful as the boss would have been on my back if they hadn't.
The sales person may well get the sack or have to pay the money themselves- it is money you were prepared to pay when you made the transaction... not to be taken as a windfall! |

I used to have a pizza restaurant and the staff would sometimes make a mistake with the bill--never ever did the customer point out the mistake and offer to pay the difference.
I never took it out of employees salaries--they were always honest mistakes _________________ Asia Expats Forum

Where I used to waitressed, the guests used coupons or signed for their bills. (the Hollandse Club)
These coupons are worse than cash!!! Imagine when you are busy!!! Arrrgh... _________________ excuse me if I make no sense... |

Hi
Yes I had a very nice pizza place in Chaingrai. That was another lifetime
Now on to the pc mistake thing
I have been living here for ages and been cheated, ripped off, scammed and shaftedea thousand times--so no id di not inform the shop of the mistake in fact I got out of their ASAP.. I fully expected them to find out the eror and somehow charge my card or whatever-but nothing.
This shop--although small was in a very prominent, high traffic area and they did tons of business- so its not like I was putting a mom and pop out of business _________________ Asia Expats Forum

I myself would have done the same thing (as stated before) for the same reasons you just stated . _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community! |

And when they quote you four times the original price of a product ... just because your a foreigner ...
Geez, I guess the fact the locals earn more than foreigners a lot of times (at least here in China) doesnt register with them fools.
