Though it is not new anymore Google Earth is obviously
not so much in use. I can't understand why. If you are
running the free version it has limits and might not have
every sh*thole named on it. But it is easy to use for people
who are spread far, and gives them good possibilities for
own impressions.
You tell me in which country or even province or county you
are living in Asia, and I might throw at your head, that I've
never heard of the place. So you give me a map with lines
for street and dots for places with names. Do you think that
helps me in finding out what your place is like. With some help
I might find out, where it is. Target not reached! I'm still not
much wiser about your location, because I have not been given
the opportunity to get my own impression.
It is so much easier and better, if I can see a place on the satellite
image of Google Earth. For some locations the image is so hi res,
that you can see single houses or even windows etc.
How does it work? You have to install Google Earth from
There are three versions. The free version is fine. Then you can
either download the placemark I posted for you by just clicking it,
then confirming the download on the window that pops up next, and
take a space travel administered by Google Earth close to the l
ocation. Or you can go "add/placemark", move it to the spot you
want to show me, name it, save as/name and post the file for me.
How can you post it on AEF for me? You have to upload it to a place
first, that accepts KMZ files. http://www.freewebs.com is one for
example, geocities is not. Then you just post the url of your file for
me to download. As simple as that.

All three of them work here. But you must install Google Earth on your computer first. The placemarks don't run without, they're just tiny
files, ca. 600 bytes.
Go http://www.earth.google.com and install the free version of
Google Earth on your PC first. Then try again.
I was going to make a map for a tenant but some of the major landmarks don't exist yet (there has been a lot of development in the area in question over the past three years). It's old old old
PS
I found my place:
34 deg, 43'03.74 N ; 135 deg, 31'22.46 E
It's not a pretty sight from the air. _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen
obviously it is not updated enough. What I don't like is that most areas are not available in the high resolution.
I don't think that the reason for confining the hires to the metropolitan areas
is a matter of not being updated enough. Probably it has something to do
with data transfer that would be very much higher if everything were hires.
It would take much longer to download and move on the image, and might
cause more traffic jams on the web, if all were hires. _________________ Thailand Forum - Korat Forum..
