Gambling is a vice. Smoking is also a vice.
.
Gambling can bring misery to gamblers and their families. Similarly, smoking can bring untold pain to smokers and their families.
.
Gambling is addictive. So is smoking. Gambling can have an adverse effect on non-gamblers. So can smoking on non-smokers.
.
First, Singapore allowed gambling in the form of horse racing and the lottery. Then 4D, Big Sweep, Toto and soccer betting followed. Now, the Government is thinking of opening a casino.
why not since the casino is going to be built on an island and not the mainland? Since entry is restricted I don't see why they should ban smoking in the casino. No smoke no gamble heh heh
Over here our wonderful government is bringing in legislation to ban smoking in some establishments, including all those that serve any type of food, including public houses.
Therefore you will be able to go in, get rat-arsed, and promptly leave and start a fight, or drive your car into a crowd of people, and that is OK (In fact, it happens quite often), provided you dont smoke whilst you are having the drink.

There is no such thing as second hand alchohol ala second hand smoke [/quote]
Perhaps not, but the number of deaths on the road and accidents caused by drunk drivers is horrendous.
Also, nearly every night, outside my last house, would be crowds of drunks, such that the police used to be there and sometimes up to 30 or so cops, fighting 100+ drunken youths.
I reckon, ban everything that anyone enjoys!
You may not live longer, but it will certainly seem like it!

That sounds about like it does here. Ban smoking, it kills to many ppl against their will... yet it's okay to go get schnockered and drive yourself home (as long as you don't get caught), while risking the lives of other drivers and families on the road at the same time as "you". You know why they do this don't you? Because it would be too hypocritical of the polititions to go to their banquets and such, share the many bottles of wine and liquor and drive home, while telling ordinary citizens they can't have the same "fun". That's my theory anyway. _________________ Just2ChatGeneral Discussion Forums
As for the smoking in casino's... it just doesn't make sense to ban it. Cansino's are great revinue for the area they are in. Here the casino's serve free drinks, as long as you are on the floor PLAYING. It's all a part of the "game", to keep people playing, and losing their money. Smoking and drinking go hand in hand, so unless they are going to ban alcohol too; I don't see much chance for a casino to be successful if they ban smoking. _________________ Just2ChatGeneral Discussion Forums
Alcohol causes almost as many deaths and disabilities worldwide as smoking or high-blood pressure, a study warns.
In this week's issue of the British medical journal The Lancet, an international team of researchers points out that alcohol is linked to more than 60 different medical conditions.
"Overall, four per cent of the global burden of disease is attributable to alcohol, 4.1 per cent to tobacco and 4.4 per cent to high blood pressure," writes lead researcher Robin Room, of Stockholm University in Sweden.
"In most cases, alcohol has a detrimental effect on health."
The researchers note that alcohol can contribute to many health problems, including cancers of the mouth, liver and breast, heart disease, stroke and cirrhosis of the liver.
They also stressed its role in car accidents, drownings, falls, poisonings, self-inflicted injuries and murders.

You will find that report in many of todays newspapers and on the Internet.
As I said, ban smoking and drinking, sex is risky, and gambling can cause problems too.
Cant eat much of anything, as it is harmful.
Even the water we drink might be polluted.

Aint life fun !!
Vegas casinos have smoking tables and non smoking tables--drinking of course allowed everywhere and encouraged-a drunk gambler is money in the bank to casino owners
