I changed from GPRS to EDGE about a month ago. Price for service is the same as GPRS. Up here AIS is not good for EDGE. But DTAC gives good quality and reasonable speed. Measured over Numion (Holland) http://www.numion.com/YourSpeed3/Run.php?QuickStart=SelectDefaults I get average speeds between 80 and 240 kbps down and up between 80 and 160 kbps. It gets slower after 8 p.m. with too many surfing the web.
Made by SNA Technology in Thailand, model 610U; 4-Band 850-900-1800-1900 MHz, up to 236,8 kbps download speed. Suitable for voice (with headset), SMS and FAX. I paid 7.200 baht.
The software has not passed the Windows logo test. Obviously it has a little problem with my graphics card. But only after waking up from hibernation. So I changed that habit now, leave the PC on most of the day and fully turn off other times.
I'm happy with it. When buying a mobile phone I would make sure to get one with EDGE too. Very big difference. _________________ Thailand Forum - Korat Forum..
can you give me an example of your monthly cost to use this?
Normal rate is 1 baht + VAT per minute or 10 kb download on both AIS and DTAC. There are flat rates of 999 baht + VAT for one month. With DTAC you cannot use that flatrate with a prepaid card. For that they offer 7 days flat for 249 baht + VAT. Daily (24 hrs.) flat is 39 baht plus VAT. There are more rates with packages like recurring monthly pack of 250 hours (15.000 minutes) for 500 baht + VAT from AIS.
Register your packs or flat rates at AIS with *138 (thai or english)and at DTAC with *1004 (thai only). There is also the possibility of ordering via SMS with DTAC by sending certain codes to 1004:
