Well, thankfully I think I'll still qualify regardless of any of their restrictions. I think they're just trying to find ways to weed out those who are teaching illegally, which is totally understandable.
I think my decision to take a TEFL certification course despite my degree and my (admittedly minor) teaching assistant experience, is increasingly becoming a good idea. This will give me the chance to see what the schools in Thailand really want, as well as giving me some buffer time to get to know the area. I've tried to find the most legal way to start teaching in Thailand, and I think this will probably become the common way to start in the profession, rather than having a bunch of "Spring Break" kids deciding last minute that they can be teachers.
I start my course in 3 and a half weeks! I just hope things calm down by then....

I know they also have this job fair thing in bangkok at least once a year--quaified teachers go there to find jobs-some end up staying and some dont--good friend of mine had to leave and ended up in Turkey--taking his thai wife along with him _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
