Just a belated follow up to this thread from a newbie......
If say someone were to pay $9. or whatever fee per month to be an active participant in TV.... and by some fluke the number of members reached 500, or more, I would estimate the $4500. per month income to create and control some clout.... Perhaps with the following thought....... Members unite [even unoffically] .....and if a fellow member was booted, each member may elect withhold the fee for the next month or until the booted member has had a review by a board of members not a board of admins and Mods.....
The strength of the $4500 just may outweigh the Mouth of the Mod, if push came to shove. The arbitrary board would have the authority to over-ride the mods and if said decision were not honoured, then the vast majority of the $4500 per month may elect to go elsewhere. Members would know that what the guy got booted for was not acceptable to the whole and could hold a big dollar ax over the Forum.
But let me say this at this juncture,,,,,, It would have to be level playing field.... good for all ...... Labour and Management, so to speak......too much power in the hands of too many with the IQ of most posters could be a death knell also..... Must have balance for the good of all..
IMHO the strength of any forum is in the strength of the whole, not the admins or the mods. A clear thinking business man would probably agree should he feel his golden goose was about to fly south.
Again IMHO I think 500 realistic active members in a good Forum would a very low and easily reachable number. I strongly suspect that there are some out there know me personally and know of my background...... at this point lets just say it was 'Marketing'...
Thai Visa and our own forum have a trememdous amount of natural resources......but it does take time and a clear head and hand of an organized administrator to assemble a top flight working anything..... it rarely 'just happens'. Much like a 1000 pce jug-saw puzzle in a box, looks like a pile of confetti, but to an organized minded individual it may become a beautiful work..... and everyone cannot do it....
and who knows how to do it ......
