Hi everyone,

I'm a Dutch national and have been offered a job in Malaysia. It would mean I would be staying there for a minimum of 5 years. Anyone have any tips and / or tricks they want to share with me?

I've worked in the P.R.China before for 3 months. Never been to Malaysia

Well what I would want to know is :

1 Is there a social expat life in Malaysia?
2 Are there any places where expats regularly meet?
3 For a European, are there things one schould not do in Malaysia?
4 Apartments in KL, are they easy to get and what would rent levels be?
Or is it normal that an employer aranges this?
5 Internet, is it censored? And can I as an expat apply for a connection?
Or do I need to ask my employer to help set this up for me?
6 With a European medical insurrance, am I fully covered in Malaysia?
7 Do expats pay tax while working in Malasia?

I know a total newbie I guess. I have worked in the P.R.China, Japan, Canada and the USA before. Malaysia would be my first long term project, which means actually settling down there.
