The fan on my video card Gforce MX400 is groaning and sqeaking away and its driving everyone crazy. Assuming I dont get the noise to stop by cleaning it is safe just to disable it? Whats the worst that could happen?

Worst that could happen is yout video card could overheat causing a fire that burns down your house and everything around your house.

The worst and likely scenario is frying your card, if you just disable it.
Buy a cooler kit for your videocard and you stay safe. _________________ There are only 2 certainties in life.
Update on my squeaky video card
I took it out and ioled it and the squeaking stopped--for about 2 days
Now I disconnected the power to the fan and I'll have to try oiling it again.
