ouch! that's way too frequent....
going to Poipet? with the new procedures in place there (with mandatory-for-all digital camera photos taken on Cambodia side as well as scanning of passports), the processing time has gone up to 4 - 5 hours, with no use of runners allowed, according to some people who have gone there recently. The tiresome procedure has gotten even worse.

Allegedly, the equipment was all supplied free by Uncle Sam...and they get to monitor it all as well... apparently done in an effort to track people... be they undesireable Iraqi terrorists or John Q. Public from Ohio. Never under-estimate the lengths Big Brother will go to.
If you can monitor the time in Cambodia that you spend, thanks... I've not gone yet myself, but want to know. Apparently, it's also in place at Hat Lek border crossing as well.

No problem at all

Gave my passport to the local guys and they returned it to me the next day with entry and exit stamps.

the next day?? That's not the typical 10 hour turnaround trip? Where did you go? Where did you stay? No photo taken? No passport scanning done?

Confused

oh ok, it's an extended over-nighter... I much prefer the quick dash to the border and back to home in the afternoon.

you didn't say, but did you then skip out on taking the obligatory photo? hmmm... just wondering if there's repercussions for that. With the computerizations, they verify that on such and such date a person comes through and they match it up with their photo done the same date.... with one but not the other, I could see the potential for that being a problem.
