I've booked a flight into Manila late December 2007 with an open schedule, and will probably stay for three - four weeks. My general aim is for Boracay & Cebu. However, no definite travel plans have been made yet.

Last time in The Phils was mainly in Makate & Puerto Galera for two weeks early 2005. I'll have to go through and start reading threads already posted in this forum. However, any comments that you may believe to be of general interest, are most welcome.

A lot depends upon what you want to do.

I generally avoid the Philippines late Dec-mid Jan, as most of the country is closed. lol
At least, there is so much time devoted to Christmas, and people going to their families, that many places are far less staffed than usual.

Of the destination you mention, I prefer Cebu.
Plenty to see and do, although you need to travel away from the city for beaches.
Also, it is very easy to travel to other islands in the Visayas, if you are sightseeing.

Borocay, of course, has the beaches, but little else.

If it is nightlife you are seeking, Cebu is the better option.
As is AC, Subic or Manila.

Come to Boracay and don`t miss the http://ati-atihan.net/ festival.
Boracay Ati Atihan: First Sunday in January = January 5, 2008
Kalibo Ati Atihan: Third sunday in January
Ibajay Ati Atihan (the Original) One week after the Kalibo Ati Atihan.
And when you look for cheap accomodation at White Beach i can recommend the small family managed resort http://www.oceanbreezeinn.info .

Thanks Jet .. Very useful information indeed.
However, I had to cancel the Philippines trip
a few days ago because of business reasons.

I will keep your recommendation in mind for
future reference.
