Mine was not too bad, working as a computer lab assistant at the school i went to in the US. It was minimum wage, but then it was an easy job, and I got to do homework while sitting there too.
Sure beat the HELL out of the job at the cafeteria which I had before that, and which I quit within a day ... ... that was also minimum wage, but it was hard work, thats for sure! _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community!
I spent the summer at a friends farm in upsate NY (norwich) whenI was about 14 years old. We were paid by the hour by my friends dad for helping with farm chores--fencing, bailing hay etc--got 76$ that summer.
Sad, but true, I signed up to get away from my folks!
Even forged my father's signature so I could enlist at 16.
Plus for centuries, there's always been someone from my family in the service, kind of a traditon to keep going. My ole man would never do service, but his brothers, father, grandfather etc etc have all been in the army.. _________________

I can sort of identify - just in a different way. I went to the US to get away from India (not my folks, just the country generally) ... then pissed off to China later for this very reason .
And forging signatures? We used to do it in school when we "bunked" school (ever heard that term Simon?) or "cut" classes or plain and simple "pissed off for the day" ... We did this to obtain a "legit" note from the parents stating we were sick or indisposed or whatever. Ah, those were the days ... especially when the notes passed scrutiny, but the school sent someone to scout our favorite spots out anyway ...

Yes Rahul, I'm very familiar with the term for most of my last year in school, I was somewhere else. Down the arcades playing slot machines, pacman and space invaders, we used to bunk off school just ab out every day, they knew what we were doing, they just didn't really care, it was our last year, would dragging us back in to school have made a difference anyway..? _________________
Don't know why I've never thought about it until now, but the local dialect b ur bunking off was "twagging it", don't ask my why though, I never understood why that word was used _________________

Ha, I figured you'd know what "bunking" meant ... it's British English!
Most Americans probably couldn't figure that one out ... just as I can't figure the "twagging" part out
We didnt play slot games while bunking, but used to smoke cigarettes (for some reason us fools thought that was cool) and go to movies and generally just piss off (which is always cool!).
