Well good for you. I wish I could do that-I am struggling with my weight since I quit smoking and it might help me to stop the meats

Vegetarians are not necessarly slim. I'm not.
My profession is not exactly condusive for the waist line.

If somebody wants to loose weight and be healthy, I would recomend following:

1. do not eat fried food, boiled food is more healthy. If you have to fry, use olive oil.
2. do not eat food cooked with MSG (Ajinomoto).
3. eat lots of salad and vegetables. a bit of raw cabbage every day will help in loosing weight.
4. drink at least 2 liter of pure water every day. (not at once)
5. avoid sugar as much as possible.
6. avoid starchy food, since starch will be converted into sugar in our body.

reasonable exercise, even just 30 min. "power" walking every day will do the trick also.

amen to all of that
The walking part is very important
When I worked at a remote sie for a while we had to walk about 1 kilometer to eat lunch and walk back everyday-- i noticed the pounds were easier to control those days. Wave

My... that's really hard to choose. The favourite place I have stayed is Mnemba Island.

My favourite hotel is certainly Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

The staff there strike a splendid balance between abject grovelling and due diligence.

My only criticism would be the room service wine list, which at 117 pages, is a little scant for my tastes.

Laughing Love it!

In Singapore I'd go for 'Original Sin' as well . . . Our little family, aside from our kids is pesco-vegetarian . . . and nothing fried . . . yuck!

Thank you for the recommendation. I shall have to try it next time I am in Singapore, Quasimodo. How's the bad back by the way?

In terms of hotels, honourable mention must go to the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. I visit often and the staff there know me well, as they should because I've had so many of them sacked for their impertinence.

But it is the management that is the most impressive feature of this hotel. During one stay, I was having severe problems with the housekeeping staff. They consistently failed to fold the end of the toilet tissue into a perfect triangle. "This isn't a game, you know", I said to them.

I complained to the management and eventually a mathematician was brought in to explain trigonometric principles to the cleaning staff.

I was very impressed with this level of attention to guest comfort.

I must call the "Original Sin" and warn them to be on the outlook for Quibbles, and apply a nice big boot to same's rear end if he does show up. After all, no-one wants you polluting nice hotels, Quibble.

As for the staff you had "sacked" (so you say, boy - I don't think it's true) - I need to buy them all a beer for doing the right thing (being impertinent to you). occasion

If I were the manager, I'd simply dump the roll of tissue on your head, and tell you "look you old fool, you either take this, or wipe your arse with your shirt". Laughing

Dong who with what?

Actually that reminds of another favourite of mine in Wuhan, the Donghu Hotel.

The hotel itself was quite bland really and the presidential apartment was not available at the time of booking so I had to make do with a luxury suite.

None of the staff knew a word of English but they all had an encyclopaedic knowledge of international exchange rates so this really enhanced my stay.

I have searched through my Oxford Dictionary and I can't find "ROTFLMAO" anywhere - or "Imao" for that matter. Might it be a misspelling or is it some kind of dialect? My apologies.

Quibble -

It won't be there in the Oxford. It's internet lingo (lingo means commonly used terms or slangs - people of your advanced age may not be familiar with it Laughing) ...

ROTFLMAO - Rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.

LMAO - Laughing my ass off.

Quibble, your one of a kind, I must say ... Laughing
