If you had an orig. CD why would you want to swap for a pirate copy ??,,If I remember right, it cost me 6 or 8k extra to have an origional copy installed when i had my new tower built.,,thats the reason that I was looking for an orig. on E-BAY at a cheap price. but since I downloaded SP2 my set works better than it did with more firewalls,,don't know how good they are tho.
MS has an offer whereby you can exchange your pirate copy for a genuine copy of WinXP provided you can produce a receipt of sales from the actual retailer. That is to say the CD that is shiny and embbed with MS's logo on the surface of the CD, unlike those that you get from Pantip.
More firewalls? I suggest you use one, maybe the free one from Zone Alarm and turn off the one that is built in with Windows XP. Same with Anti virus. Use only one at any one time but use another one to check files if necessary.
Using 2 firewalls at the same time is like using 2 rubbers at the same time which is unnecessary _________________ =============

only firewall I got is the one in the SP2, I had Norton but didnt want to pay if I didnt have to so dropped it., Have used ZNorton anti virus for years and am happy with it so will keep it.
And on another thread, someone reccomended using 2 rubbers and a paper sack or two.
Microsoft: No Counterfeit XP Swap in US
By David Worthington, BetaNews

Last week, Windows enthusiast sites picked up on an offer of clemency that is posted on Microsoft's United Kingdom Web site. The software giant offered to replace counterfeit Windows XP CDs with genuine versions. BetaNews has learned that Microsoft will not extend the same courtesy to customers in the United States who inadvertently find themselves with unlicensed copies of Windows XP running on their PC. The program was established in response to "high quality" counterfeit versions of Windows that were recently uncovered in the UK, and will only run until December 31, 2004. _________________ =============

microscum should allow the swap and then only charge minimal for future upgrades--they can get many more customers under their belt that way _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating
