the US tied with the powerhouse italian team
next we thrash ghana 3-1
Beautiful game too. Two Americans sent off, numerous other dodgy incidents. They mixed up "soccer" and American Football there for a while.
I really hope the USA make the second round. 3-1 should take care of that. In fact, I really wish they could have topped their group. Then they would have played Australia in the second round.
USA or Australia???
Before the World Cup draw, all of the coaches were asked which team they would like to have in their group. Only Bruce Arena (USA coach) was stupid enough to reply. He said, "Australia, because they are the weakest team".
Here's to the Aussies kicking some American a***! (note the Australian spelling of the last word) _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen
Quarter finals are almost upon us and all the usual suspects are there. 9 teams left, although either France or Spain is gone in about three hours' time.
I put this on another site, but here is my embittered, brief analysis of the remaining teams:
Germany (These guys have to be the favourites. Such an exciting team to watch with their youth and total confidence in themselves. Klinsmann is one weird coach but he obviously knows what he is doing.)
Spain(beautiful to watch, great teamwork and team spirit, their short passing game is like magic. Torres is a genius!)
England (I think these guys are peaking at the right time. The best is yet to come. Where are the bl**dy strikers? And why is Defoe watching the games at the pub and not playing in them? Get rid of Hargreaves and they might win it)
Portugal(with Gene Hackman as coach, they can achieve anything. Pity they have so many players on yellow cards. Now they have to play on egg shells)
Argentina(Don't you think Maxi Rodriguez looks like Adam Sandler? Pity they are playing Germany in the quarters. A great team to watch.)
Brazil (The referees' favourite team. Watch for the ref's autograph book next to his cards and notebook. Show ponies and has-beens)
France (The gang are back for one last tournament. Everyone at the old people's home will be cheering for them. I hope Henry scores at least one goal! It would be nice if Zidane passed it to him once in a while)
Italy (yawn! defence, simulation, defence... BORING! If they win the World Cup it will encourage the rest of the world to copy their boring style)
The Ukraine(I am shocked but not as much as they are) _________________ Wer tanzen will, muss die Musik bezahlen
whos in favor of using instant replays in soccer? It would be a great way for get more tv sponsors--stop the game for a few ads and check on the repay like US football. and teh aussies might stil be alive-what a travesty
I was impressed by Ghana but don't they have shooting skills?? How many chances does it take? That is the briliance and genius of Brazil. _________________ Asia Expats Forum Expat Friends Dating

I would have to agree with you there, Ghana are fast on the ball, faster than Brazil, but maybe someone ought to tell em that when ya shoot at goal, aim for the empty part of the net ie. the part of the net that doesn't have a keeper in it with his hands waiting for that ball.
Some desperate moves by Ghana in the second half made it entertaining, taking a dive in the penalty box oops - red card.
Brazil, show ponies or not, they turned on some of their magic last night, even though Ghana could out run them, they just lacked the ball skills that the ponies still have.
Predictions.....
England will win their next match and so will Brazil.
England v Brazil in the semi's.....
Brazil will win.
Should be a Germany v Brazil final with Germany taking the cup. _________________
