so i banned his email address--
he made an account with a new email
I banned that email
and he made an account with a 3rd email
so i finally banned his ip address--a Dongguan address a that
I wonder if the bot's picking up IP addresses of posters, Mike ... this is interesting, if only from an academic viewpoint. I've made plenty of posts here - is the bot getting the last two parts of my IP somehow _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community!

Its not a bot--at least I dont think so. Its some clown with nothing better to do than spam forums

Yep, I was myself wondering (as noted in another post) how bots "signed" up for the board ..
I'm also not sure if a bot COULD pick up IP addresses ... BUT, my email address has PLENTY of spam daily - could that be the source?? _________________ Dongguan Expat - Your online Community!

actaully it is the same address as you--aaccording to my stats
(58.63.75.136) should be a banned address-so you should have not been able to logon-or maybe that is onlt to create anew account.
can you try to register a new account and see if you get banned?
you must be using the same provider--or??
That is MOST certainly not my IP, Mike!
NONE of the numbers match (and, the last one should - since it's supposed to be country related - as far as I know).
Unless clown's using a dial-up connection ...
As far as ISP's go, only two major ones in Dongguan (broadband): China Telcom (ADSL) and Great Wall Broadband (cable - which I use). Phone line service is free (other than phone time) and is provided by some government agency, I think.

Pick up IP's? To make the bot harder to trace, or ban.
Email: Not sure. Perhaps the bot got my IP through the email (at least the "Dongguan" part) and then generated random IP's ...
